So lots of stuff going on in the next following months.
Firstly, I've decided to extent the "Between Two Fires" chapter of Jonny Web Series in to two parts, so Book 5 will be part 2. The chapter was running on too long. Looking through what I wanted to do, from the fight between J-Man and Heat-Wave, the side-story of Abe and Stacy, as well as a side-side-story (like half a page or so) with Susie and the mysterious Megan O'Henin; there was just too much
I think overall there might end up being close to 40-50 pages to this. The good news is that, this being split in two, I might have more space to do less dialogue-y, more visually crazy fight scenes. Plus, the ending will be AWESOME!!!! (No spoilers)
Next, If it seems like the page updates have been scarce and erratic, that's because of my school work. Anyone whose graduated SVA will tell you that Junior year is the hardest, and that's because of the year-long thesis. My year's thesis subject is fairy tales and I choose my favorite childhood tales (and one of my favorite Pre-Renaissance Disney films) Cinderella. We have to dig deep in the original text and find out what the story truly "means" and base our comic on that. I've looked up psychology articles on Cinderella and found some interesting things about Cindy's possible fear of being envied by other women, and that being the reason she let herself be taken advantage of by the Evil Step-Mom. Hopefully, my story will go into the Junior art show. Since I must focus on this, expect page updates to be strange in the next month (I've stuck to only one page each series every week for now). When I finish both my thesis and Jonny 1933 (sorry about how long it's taken), I will start uploading Cinderella as Tales from the Other Side Book 2
Finally, here's the list of my upcoming cons:
March 5th: Big Apple Con
Location: Penn Plaza Pavilion, 401 Seventh Avenue at 33rd St NY, NY 10001
April 2nd-3rd: MoCCA Fest
Location: Metropolitan West, 639 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036
Note: I will be part of SVA's Booth so I'll only be tabling for an hour, though I'll probably walk around for two hours. Also, only one of my comics will be on display (probably Jonny Web Series Book 3). But SVA's Cartooning Club has lots of talent and the other books will mostly definitely be top quality (I will showcase my personal recommendations). I will update when I get my time at the table, in case you want to meet me.
April 16th-17th: East Coast Comicon
Location: Meadowlands Exposition Center, 355 Plaza Drive Secaucus, NJ 07094
April 22nd-24th: The Great Philadelphia Comic Con
Location: The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Avenue, Oaks, PA 19456
First con out of state. Gonna share a hotel room with my Mom, maybe see some sites. Super excited.
These Cons I'm working on getting. I will update this when I can.
Some time in late April/early May: SVA FreshMeat
Location: SVA Student Center, 217 East 23 Street
Note: They haven't announce when this will happen or given out applications yet, and probably won't until mid-to-late March.
June 4th: White Plains Comic Con
Location: White Plains Public Library, 100 Martine Ave, White Plains, NY 10601
Note: Close to getting this. Just have to send a check. Hopefully they take starter checks (I've done everything up to this point with PayPal. Never need to use my Chase checks.) They haven't made tickets available yet. The link above goes to it's Eventbrite page. Stay tuned for updates there.
Sometime soon I want to make a specific calendar page for this con stuff. For now just refer to this. Also for the blog, I've been thinking of doing some reviews of comics, both web and print, and maybe a "Top Favorite TV Shows". I know what #1 is :D
Talk with guys soon!
